Fairview Acadia Behavioral Health Hospital
Hunt Electric and ECSI are partnering with Aptitude on the new 144-bed facility for Acadia Healthcare, a national leader in mental health and addiction services.
Construction has begun on the 105,500 s.f., multi-level, state-of-the-art inpatient mental health hospital located at the former site of Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul, just north of the Capitol. This is the first stand-alone mental health facility in Minnesota.
UNIQUE ELEMENTS
- This is the first time we have used Vesda, an aspirating smoke detection system, in lieu of conventional addressable smoke detection. Each patient room will have its own sampling point that tests the air remotely, enabling the system to identify the room in alarm.
- This project includes prefabricated restrooms, called BLOX units, built offsite and shipped to the jobsite for installation. Hunt will need to make connections to the preassembled whips for all fixtures and devices already in place.
- Finally, there are three adjacent properties with electrical scope that will eventually tie into this project.
ANTICIPATED CHALLENGES
- Front-end delays due to permitting issues unrelated to the electrical scope. Hunt used the time to process all submittals and plan reviews, allowing the Engineer of Record to address questions and concerns before construction began.
- Multiple Low Voltage Contractors onsite. Anticipating both gaps and overlaps in scope, and ensuring regular communication between contractors to delineate scopes.
WE ARE BETTER TOGETHER
Designed by Stengel Hill Architecture and built by JE Dunn, Hunt provided BIM/VDC, electrical construction, and Advanced Construction Planning. Our in-house partners included ECSI for AV, Intercom, Fire Alarm, Emergency Communications and DAS; Power Solutions for load bank testing, and Baer Manufacturing for pre-manufactured product.
