The Lakeview at 333
Post-Tension Luxury Apartment Building in Duluth, MN
Project Overview: 15-Story Electrical Installation
Through design-assist collaboration, proactive planning, and expert coordination across Hunt Electric’s VDC, ACP, and low-voltage teams, this project delivered a complex, high-quality electrical installation within a challenging yet inspiring environment. The Lakeview is a 15-story, post-tension concrete luxury apartment building situated near the scenic shoreline of Lake Superior.
Hunt Electric provided comprehensive electrical services for the entire building, including main service installation, temporary power and lighting, and permanent interior and exterior power and lighting systems. ARS supplied and installed the fire alarm and emergency communication systems.

Design-Assist Collaboration
As a design-assist project, Hunt Electric partnered closely with in-house Engineers, the Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) team, the Advanced Construction Planning (ACP) group, and ARS low-voltage specialists. This integrated approach allowed the team to:
- Identify potential conflicts early
- Optimize installation sequencing
- Coordinate effectively across all trades
- Support consistent alignment with the overall construction schedule
This collaboration ensured smooth project delivery and reduced onsite disruptions.
Construction Challenges & Solutions
Post-Tension Coordination
The building’s post-tension floor system required precise coordination to avoid interference with embedded cabling. Hunt Electric’s VDC and ACP teams played a central role in achieving this, using BIM coordination to maintain clear communication across trades, reduce rework, and mitigate field conflicts.
Site Constraints & Material Logistics
Because the building footprint occupied nearly the entire site, space for staging materials was extremely limited. Hunt Electric resolved this by coordinating offsite material storage with vendors and implementing scheduled deliveries, keeping the project on track despite tight site conditions.
Site Conditions
Located just steps from Lake Superior, the project site was subject to rapidly changing weather conditions that influenced construction sequencing and scheduling. Despite these environmental challenges, the location offered exceptional lake views, making the planning and coordination efforts both meaningful and rewarding for the project team.
