McKenzie County Public Works Facility Project
McKenzie County Public Works Facility | Public Infrastructure Electrical Construction
McKenzie County Public Works Facility Electrical Construction Project
The McKenzie County Public Works Facility was developed to support the rapid growth of Watford City, North Dakota following the mid-2010s oil boom. With an outdated public works facility and increasing demand for county services, McKenzie County needed a modernized operations hub built for long term community support.
The newly constructed facility spans 31 acres and includes 96,000 square feet of space, providing the county with expanded capacity for public works operations, fleet support, storage, and administration.

Accommodating a Growing Community
As Watford City continued to grow, McKenzie County required a facility capable of supporting expanded infrastructure, maintenance, and service needs. The new public works campus brings multiple operational functions together in one coordinated site.
The facility includes a two-level administration area and three pre-engineered metal building wings, each housing a different County Department shop area.
Scope of Work
The site includes:
- Two cold storage buildings
- Fueling stations
- Salt storage building
- Brine containment station
- Three retention ponds
- Two-level administration area
- Three pre-engineered metal building wings for County Department shop areas
