Gun Lake Casino Hotel + Aquadome

We are responsible for the design assist on this $300 million addition to the Gun Lake Casino in Wayland Township, MI. We are working with a long-time partner, Swan Electric (Lansing, MI), and Moore Electric (Kalamazoo, MI). The addition will be completed in 2025.

The addition will include a 15-story hotel that will have 252 rooms, including 30 suites and a two-level suite. It will also feature a six-story Aquadome featuring three pools inside a 32,000 square-foot glass dome. The space will be able to transform into a concert venue, banquet center, and entertainment venue.

TWICE THE FUN

Typically, we team up with a single partner local to a project—but this time we have two great partners! Hunt’s primary role on this project was to assist with virtual design efforts. The coordination of the 15-story hotel that has a restaurant, bar, and grand staircase will be a challenge. The one-of-a-kind unique 32,000 square foot Aquadome that will house three pools, a swim-up bar, and an ability to change into a live concert venue is something new for all involved!

The project site is in the northern half of local 275 (Western, MI) which is limited to a relatively small number of members. Our partners have staffed our field leadership with some of their shop regulars who are from outside this area. This project also has TGB goals, and we’ve been able to work with the local Gun Lake Tribe on putting to work some members of their community from the surrounding reservation.
