EAGAN, MN – January 2026 –

Hunt Electric is pleased to announce Andy Giefer’s promotion to Commercial Design Manager. Andy, who marked his 12th anniversary with the company on December 30th, first joined Hunt as an Electrical Engineer and advanced to Senior Electrical Engineer before stepping into his new position.

In his expanded role, Andy oversees communication and coordination across divisions, business units, and branch offices to identify design-build opportunities and develop proposed layouts. He is responsible for creating and submitting design budgets for potential projects while ensuring budgets are monitored and maintained throughout the project lifecycle. Additionally, he reviews design drawings to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance with relevant codes.

A significant aspect of Andy’s new position involves developing and implementing technical and professional training programs, as well as mentoring entry- and mid-level staff in career growth, leadership, and professional development. He supports staff in obtaining their Professional Engineer (PE) licenses by guiding them through licensing requirements and assigning relevant project work. To foster growth and address individual needs, he conducts one-on-one meetings with team members to discuss their goals, challenges, and development plans.

Throughout his tenure at Hunt, Andy has worked on a diverse portfolio of projects, including office remodels and new builds such as Hunt’s Eagan headquarters, schools, lab/cleanrooms, medical office buildings, multi-family residential projects, hospitality spaces, a cannabis grow facility, and data center work. When asked about his favorite projects, Andy highlighted three that stand out: Wells Fargo Downtown East, the lighting design for the Omni Viking Lakes Hotel, and the Hwy 35 Cannabis Park in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. “They were all complex in their own way and presented new challenges I hadn’t encountered before,” Andy noted.

Please join us in congratulating Andy on his well-deserved promotion and celebrating his 12 years of dedication to Hunt Electric!

Recently, both Hunt Electric Corporation and ECSI System Integrators were part of a unique facility expansion project that involved moving nearly 300 CNC machines. The new plant now expands their overall machining capacity to more than 450 mills/lathes in the US. This was the first project we’ve worked with Protolabs on and they are happy to report the moving process maintained on-time delivery, and most importantly, there were no injuries. Check out this cool time-lapse video of how they moved all of these machines into the new facility: https://youtu.be/V0l5Pr7cD9QAre you familiar with digital manufacturing? It’s rapid prototyping and on-demand production in as fast as 1 day. Still confused? Let’s just say Protolabs manufacturers 3.1 million parts per month.
