Unimaginable People Bring Unimaginable Results

Imagine you are an electrician "just doing your job" and it turns out just doing your job is more impactful than anyone could have thought - even years later.  It's people like Steve that solidify our core values, make us enjoy coming to work, and just really put into perspective why we do what we do.

Fiber Optic Light Installation at Abbot Northwestern Hospital

April 2023 - Bloomington, MN - Imagine being in a treatment room getting radiation.  Now imagine being the electrician in charge of wiring the fiber optics that go into the treatment room.

The assignment and requirements - not difficult.  The result?  Unimaginable.

The plans for a fiber optic ceiling lighting package in "Treatment Room A" at Abbott Northwestern Hospital were to emulate a sooth "starry night" theme for patients.  This could have been accomplished by simply installing fiber optic strands in a random fashion.

Going Above & Beyond For Stellar Results

Instead, Hunt Electric General Foreman Steve Parker researched astrological websites to determine exactly what would be seen above the hospital in Minneapolis specifically on Summer Solstice. He used his findings as an overlay on the reflected ceiling plan, reproduced a scale version of the constellations, and even oriented the layout in the room in the correct cardinal direction.

His one of a kind installation was not requested, discussed, or known until it was in place. It was simply his desire to produce exceptional work. This amazing display has left a lasting impression on the staff and all future patients that will receive treatments there.

This actually took place in 2018.  There is a plaque in the room that explains all of this and calls out the General Foreman who did this- Steve Parker.  He retired about a year ago but we still continuously get emails from patients wanting to thank Steve.  Below is the latest one.

"Hello, Is there any way that I can let Steve Parker know how much I appreciate seeing his Starry Night display all 33 times I have to go in for radiation? I noticed how special it was immediately and that someone had taken great care to create an amazing, realistic night sky display. It means a lot to me that someone would be thinking of all the people going through a hard time in their lives as they have to be treated with radiation. He really exceeded all expectations. Just wanted him to know that I really appreciate all of his efforts. Thank you."  - Betsy

Lasting Impact of a Job Well Done

Again, imagine you are an electrician "just doing your job" and it turns out just doing your job is more impactful than anyone could have thought - even years later.  It's people like Steve that solidify our core values, make us enjoy coming to work, and just really put into perspective why we do what we do.
